I should start out with the truth... I'm a horrible writer. In fact starting a blog is most likely forcing me to face a few of my biggest fears. I'm an army wife stationed with my family in Fort irwin Ca. If you check Fort Irwin out on a map, it closely resembles where hell should be.  In the middle of the barren desert, an hours drive to the VERY seedy town of Barstow.  I joke with my friends from the bay area that Irwin and San Quentin should switch locations. If  prisoner escaped san quentin they would run into hipsters and gourmet food. If they got loose here they would have to defend themselves against badgers, coyotes, and spiders as big and as fast as a small child. But after being here for almost 2 years, you do start to notice or appreciate a beauty of the desert. After it rains for only a few min all of a sudden there is a vibrant green that emerges from the dull calico brown landscape. It may only last a day, but it is amazing.
